Navigating an IBD diagnosis? You're in the right place!
Hi, I’m Michelle, and I know firsthand how overwhelming an IBD diagnosis can feel.
After years of pain, uncertainty, and navigating a complex medical system, I made it my mission to turn my experience into something that could help others. That’s why I wrote The Ultimate IBD Handbook: Your Guide to Thriving, Not Just Surviving—to give you the knowledge, support, and encouragement I wish I had when I was first diagnosed.

The IBD community has needed a book like this for so long. It tackles the tough conversations, fights stigma, and encourages people to take charge of their health. It’s informative, yes but also empowering and uplifting.

I read this while going through one of my worst flares, and it was exactly what I needed. The advice on symptom management, the emotional rollercoaster, and how to talk to doctors—it felt like a survival guide. If you have IBD, you need this book.

This book does an excellent job of breaking down the science behind IBD in a way that’s easy to digest (pun intended) without dumbing it down. The sections on immune dysregulation and treatment innovations were particularly fascinating.

I’ve read a lot of IBD books, and most either feel like a medical textbook, story of their life or a vague self-help guide. The Ultimate IBD Handbook strikes the perfect balance—it’s informative, personal, and empowering. Whether you’re newly diagnosed or have had IBD for years, you’ll get something out of it.

A little about me
For years, I battled relentless pain, exhaustion, and uncertainty, all while being told my symptoms were "just stress" or "all in my head." It took over a decade to finally receive a diagnosis of severe Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), and by then, my life had already been turned upside down. The journey was isolating, frustrating, and at times, completely overwhelming. But through it all, I realised that what I needed most—beyond medical treatment—was understanding, support, and real, practical advice from someone who had been there.
That’s why I chose to turn my experience into something meaningful. I became an author, advocate, and speaker to help others feel less alone in their own IBD journey. The Ultimate IBD Handbook was born out of a desire to provide the clarity, comfort, and encouragement I wish I had when I was first diagnosed. Through my writing and public speaking, I want to break the stigma, educate others, and empower those living with IBD to take control of their health, find their community, and live a full, thriving life—because we are so much more than our diagnosis.
